Peanuts

The peanut entomology project takes a holistic perspective through a combined research and extension program.  The research focus is on cost-effective strategies for insect management starting at the planting of the crop and following seasonal insect pests until harvest. Our research has created a sound database on insect biology that allows us to use treatments effectively.  Our extension program is geared towards education on pest occurrence and life cycles and management with an emphasis on decision making and risk assessment.

Our project also has a significant international component that was initiated in 1996.  The current project in Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, and Mozambique has recently ended with new projects begin developed for 2018.
